Irene Wilson

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Irene Wilson, beloved mother, YiaYia, and YiaYia Great. She was born on May 31, 1927 in New York City to Androniki and George Stratigakis. Irene passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026 at the age of 99 in San Diego, CA.

Irene shared her life with Bill, her dear husband of 71 years, who preceded her in death. Together they raised two daughters, welcomed six grandchildren and then four great grandchildren into the family.

Irene was a faithful servant of Jehovah God her entire life. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on March 5,1941 at the age of 13 and devoted her life to preaching about God’s Kingdom to others. She firmly believed in the hope of the resurrection and a life with her family and many friends in Paradise on earth.

She spent many years as a homemaker, raising her daughters Patricia and Kathleen. She also enjoyed her work in the secretarial and banking fields. Her Greek heritage was evident as she spoke the language fluently, knew the art of creating authentic Greek dishes, and brought the ways of the old country to life. Irene was an accomplished pianist and loved playing a variety of music for all to enjoy. She had many interests - tending to her beautiful roses, crocheting a blanket for each member of her family, and cooking delicious dinners for family and friends. Bill and Irene loved to entertain and opened their home to all, sharing meals and delightful conversation around the dining room table. And when someone was sick or in need of help, Irene was always ready with a meal, words of encouragement, and the willingness to assist in any way that was needed.

Irene touched so many lives with her genuine love and caring touch. She will be deeply missed by all. Till we meet again in Paradise, we each say Σε αγαπώ πάρα πολύ, I love you very much.
