A beloved wife, cherished mother of three, loving grandmother to four, great-grandmother of four and loyal friend to many, Isabel Amador Cortez (Lita) died on November 22, 2019 at the age of 97.

Lita was the third of five children born to Mike and Nellie Amador. Lita was born and raised in San Diego, graduating from San Diego High School in 1941. On October 12, 1947 she married James L. Cortez, her husband of 48 years until his death in 1995. Lita leaves behind her son James H. Cortez (Carol), daughters Olivia Cortez (Vince) and Andrea Van Vranken (Jim). She is also survived by her four grandchildren, James M. Cortez, Carrianne King, Micaela Torres-Gil, and Laura Van Vranken, as well as great- grandchildren Isabella, Mason, Landon and Logan and a host of family and friends.

Some of Lita’s fondest memories were her travels with family and friends throughout the United States, Mexico, Central and South American and Europe. She loved camping, music, dance, and stayed active with Tai Chi and water aerobics. She was a devoted Catholic.
