Prayers of comfort and hope for Jay's family.  I and a group of friends making up a nursing home ministry called Music & Magic had the privilege of meeting and knowing Jay late in his life.  Brons, our string bass player, had played in bands with Jay for many years and invited him to join our ministry.  What a blessing it was to have Jay with us, sharing his musical talent and heart to many folks in East County San Diego!    Even in his eighties, Jay's voice was one that soothed the soul and delighted his listeners; and he added so much to our sound with the harmonies he created on his harmonicas.  Always humbly willing to sing songs like "Fly Me to the Moon," "Try to Remember," and "Moon River,; and adding to our repertoire, the harmonica melodies of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," and "Danny Boy," Jay's participation in our ministry blessed us and our audiences beyond measure.   More important than a ministry commitment, though, was his commitment to his wife, Joyce.  Jay was faithful to the end in caring for and being there for and with his bride.  All of us in M & M are thankful we got to know Jay, even for a few short years.  We look forward to making music with him to God's glory "when we all get to heaven."  


Thank you Jim for your service to our church family  and to our country. I cherish the insights Jim shared with me about scripture. Be at rest my brother in Christ and in arms - Semper Fidelis.

I got to see Jim so many Sunday mornings as we ended our bible study class and Jim was coming into the same room for the 10:30 bible study class. I will miss seeing you Jim.

My Uncle Jim was a great guy.  I have very fond memories of him.  At first he seemed like this really cool hipster guy to me.  He would speak like a jazz musician, ending every sentence with “you dig, man?”  Then later I recall having many intellectual conversations with him about religion and politics (his two favorite subjects for discussion in that order...). We both enjoyed that exchange of ideas.  He had strongly held ideas and beliefs, but most importantly he had an open mind.
 
Once again, I am deeply sorry for his passing. But undoubtedly both Mark and Debbie can take solace in the fact that their Dad was a good and honest man.   He was a good Father, Husband, and most of all — a great Citizen of our country and community.   He will be missed, and we are all the better from knowing him.

I remember the first time I met uncle Jim in San Diego when I was 13, he asked aunt Joyce who these cats were, I thought that was pretty cool. Jim was always a sincere, straightforward, honest man that I respected a lot. Being a former Marine myself, I understand where he got his hard-working roots from. Will definitely be missed!

He worked his head off....... successfully!   It was my pleasure chatting  with him when he would visit his property in Escondido.  A proud man and a proud father.  He would often speak of his family with me.....He loved you all dearly.
May your hearts be filled with peace and your love for each other comfort you during this difficult time.....

Jim lived a good life and left a wonderful legacy, Debbie and Mark. They will keep his legacy in their heart and souls and pass it on to their family.
