October 31, 1970 - December 4, 2020
Jason Adriano was born on the eve of Todos Los Santos —October 31, 1970—at the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pasay City, Philippines, the second child of Elvira and Eliseo Adriano. If you ask his sister and brothers, they would unanimously agree that Jason was the mischievous one. He spent his childhood diving into rivers, riding carabaos, catching dragonflies, climbing trees, getting lost with his bike and finding new ways to get into trouble in Pasay and Olongapo. For those lucky enough to be close to him, Jason could make every day an adventure.
He carried that strong-willed and fearless spirit with him into adulthood. At the age of 20, he immigrated to the United States. He enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Kinkaid during Desert Storm. He was into all music genres, but especially loved rock ballads, devouring Journey and Styx in his teenage years; he adored Dennis DeYoung and Ozzy Osbourne, and listened to every great musician from Freddie Mercury to Freddie Aguilar, from John Denver to John Lennon. At a party, he could make everyone smile when he broke out his guitar or picked up the karaoke mic. He was an enthusiastic mountain biker. Shortly before he passed, he was learning how to ride the unicycle.
But his favorite adventure of all was the one he shared with his wife, Joy, and his two sons, Aaron and Aleck, whom he loved beyond measure. He was the proudest dad in the world, and raising his sons was the greatest joy of his life.
Jason passed away on December 4, 2020, at Scripps Mercy Hospital in Chula Vista, California. He is survived by his wife and sons; his mother and father; his siblings Clarissa, Patrick, and Brian; his nieces, Namie and Pia; his in-laws, many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and the countless friends who've been inspired by his infectious humor and zest for life.
While Jason was receiving palliative care at the hospital, his family was able to play him his favorite 80s rock songs—especially the ones by Journey and Styx. We know he’s still rocking on with us.
