Jay Paul Bracken, 81, died Monday, July 31, 2017, at home in San Diego. He was born 8 December 1935 in Mountain View, WY, in a log house.
After high school, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Army where he received electronics training and deployed to Japan. After discharge, he attended electronic trade school in Salt Lake City where he became reacquainted with Doreen Hoopes. They married in 1958 and moved to San Diego and raised their family. In 1979 Paul became co-owner of Kurt’s Camera repair where Paul and Doreen worked together until they retired in 1999.
Paul is survived by his wife Doreen Bracken, two daughters, Janice (Dan) Spring, Spring Valley, CA, and Roxann (Chris) Evensen, Choteau, MT; six grandchildren: Alysia (Spring) Elijah, Chad Spring, Katie (Evensen) Adams, Kevin Evensen, Erik Evensen, and Tyler Evensen; and seven great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents and siblings.
Paul spent his life in service. Service to his family, his fellow-man, and his God. Paul leaves a legacy of love for his fellow man. He was a friend and friendly to all. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints he served in many positions throughout his life.
A service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, 4 August 2018, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4741 Mt. Abernathy Avenue, San Diego, CA
