Jeanette Marie Burney

Jeanette was a devout lifelong practicing Catholic who knew, loved and lived the faith. It became the guiding light for her life, influencing everything else she said and did. She attending Catholic schools all the way through college. She was actively involved in the pro-life movement as well as youth and young adult ministry. She loved attending Mass and receiving Our Lord in the Eucharist. She also made countless visits to the Blessed Sacrament chapel. She participated in many pilgrimages over the years to the Holy Land and various Marian sites. Her most recent pilgrimage was to the California Missions.

One of her main goals in life was to be a positive influence in the lives of others and ultimately, to assist them in appreciating the beauty and richness of the Catholic Faith and leading them to Christ. When she joined Toastmasters, for example, it certainly was not because she needed to get over the fear of public speaking. Rather It was because she wanted an audience. But not to satisfy some selfish need of hers, but rather she wanted to impart messages to the audience which would have a positive effect on their lives.

Jeanette loved music. As a child she became a rather accomplished pianist (like her mother). She sang in the folk group at both Blessed Sacrament and Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She loved dancing and as a child became very adept at ballet and later taught classes in it. Later on, she developed a love for ballroom dancing and participated in amateur competition.

A visitation for Jeanette will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Goodbody Mortuary, 5027 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92115. A rosary will occur Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 6:00 PM, 5027 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92115. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 2766 Navajo Rd, El Cajon, CA 92020. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum, 4470 Hilltop Dr, San Diego, CA 92102. A reception following location tba will occur.
