Born in Quezon City, Philippines, Jeff grew up in San Diego, California, in the close-knit community of Scripps Ranch—a place he always called home. He attended Scripps Ranch High School, where he was a member of the Varsity Tennis Team. Jeff also grew up playing baseball, which helped shape his lifelong love of the sport and his unwavering support for the San Diego Padres. From a young age, he was known for his kind and genuine nature, his easy smile, and his ability to make everyone around him feel welcome. He had a deep love for San Diego and found joy in some of life’s simplest moments, like time spent at the beach, fish tacos with family and friends, and sports—whether he was playing, competing, or watching a game.
Jeff attended UCLA for his undergraduate studies, after which he moved to Houston, Texas, to begin his career at Bechtel Corporation. During his time in Houston, Jeff gave back to the community by volunteering to tutor middle school students in math. He later went on to earn his MBA from Carnegie Mellon University before moving to Seattle to join Amazon, where he spent nearly a decade building not just a successful career, but a community. Jeff was widely respected for his intelligence, creativity, and leadership, but even more so for the way he showed up for others. He was a passionate mentor who invested deeply in the people around him—advocating for their growth, encouraging balance, and always making time to support others. His colleagues became close friends, and his team became like family.
At his core, Jeff was defined by his faith, his love for his family, and his selfless spirit. He had a strong Catholic faith that grounded him throughout his life and gave him strength through his journey. He was incredibly devoted to his family, holding a special place in his heart for his nephews, Jack and Peter, who brought him so much pride and joy. And of course, his beloved dog Coco was a constant companion and source of comfort.
In 2018, Jeff was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma—a battle he would face for the next eight years with extraordinary strength and resilience. Through every stage, he remained positive, grounded, and determined. Even as his illness tested him physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, Jeff never let it define him. He continued to create, to work, and to dream—building AI applications and pursuing new ideas, even from his hospital room. He fought with grace and courage until the very end, inspiring everyone around him with his unwavering spirit.
Jeff is survived by his loving parents, Rod and Marietta Almario; his sister, Joyce (Devin); his nephews, Jack and Peter; his beloved dog and loyal companion, Coco; and countless extended family members and friends across the world who will continue to carry his memory forward.
Jeff will be remembered for his generous heart, his deep love for family and friends, and his ability to bring people together. He had a rare gift for connecting with others in a meaningful way, and his life was a testament to love, faith, resilience, and the power of showing up for others. He will be deeply missed.
It was always Jeff’s wish to return to San Diego, and his family will honor that wish by celebrating his life there. A visitation and vigil service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at El Camino Memorial – Sorrento Valley from 5:00–9:00 PM, with a formal service beginning at 6:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 14 at 10:30 AM at his childhood church, St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 12:00 PM at El Camino Memorial Park, with a reception to follow.
In honor of Jeff, the family invites those who wish to make a donation to Fred Hutch Cancer Center, whose care and compassion played such an important role in his journey.
