A friend wrote in Jeff's guest book about how excited Jeff was when he discussed his recent bicycle trips. It brought joy to my mind that I had been blessed with his presence for 49 years. Now, whenever I am down, I will focus on the joy my son brought to me and others. Thank you Nagesh, for reminding me that life is full of ups and downs and Jeff was certainly a very brilliant up that I will switch my mind to when I am down. I was more than fortunate to have him in my life!

Jeff was a wonderful friend of mine. He was full of life and he was always fun to be with. Our favorite discussion topics were on about various activities he does like Cycling and running, which he would explain with great enthusiasm. I cherish all the moments we spent together. Miss him.

I just today learned of you leaving us. Will miss knowing you are around my friend.

Jeff always treated me like a friend, which is a rare trait nowadays always a kind guy. I remember the first time he called me over to snake his drain, I pulled out a black hairball about the size of a squirrel. Jeff rubbed his bald head and said "Did I clog that drain?" It completely caught me off guard, and I started cracking up. It's a story I still tell frequently. Jeff was a truly great man, and I'll miss working for him. I enjoyed being able to see the accomplishments he made in life, including all those travel photos and pictures of you guys enjoying it together. Truly a one-of-a-kind guy.

We had the pleasure of meeting Jeff a few months ago at his mom's house in Temecula. We feel blessed to have known him even though for a brief period. Pat has always spoken with such love and pride for her son. There is no doubt he was a special man to so many. May he rest in peace and his family and friends find comfort in the many happy memories you will always carry with you.

We will miss you on the road buddy! Boom-Boom-Boom.

Dear Julie, it was a very touching memorial service. You exhibited such grace and courage. Jeff, I always looked forward to our birthdays.  We always made the time to get together and share those moments.

I wanted to thank you for supporting me the past two years when riding for the Pedal the Cause.  This was the year I was looking forward to our bike rides together.  As I ride my bike for different causes in the future, you will be riding along side me in spirit.  Always giving that kind push when I need it most.

Jeff was one of the smartest and funniest people I have known.  But most people might not know his interest in art. There are so many stories I can share about his humor and wit. But I was surprised at a conference for Julie and Perry in San Antonio, TX. that he suggested  going on a gourmet tour of barbecue places. He had selected six top restaurants based on reviews. We hit them all up and compared for ourselves.  Some were quite unique, with out-houses and vintage moonshine equipment.  But heading back forwards town, I noticed we were going in circles and asked him to check the GPS after we passed the same drive-through Starbucks twice. He said 'Yeah the rental car's GPS was directed to some interesting art sculptures. I was concerned as there were not many people walking around just those sleeping on the  sidewalks or side of the road.  Finally we thought we saw IT-some weird red metal bent into shapes. I asked him what was the big dark V on top. He said let's go around to the other side. Then it flew away leaving a swath of white streak from top to bottom. Jeff said "Now, that's art!".  

Another time, we were all going to a concert at Valley View Casino (Earth, Wind and Fire classic).  We suggested to go to the restaurant at the casino.  Jeff said he did not think they let him into the casino.  We said "What-why".  He said the last time he was there with Lars (his Swedish friend and co-worker) at a poker tournament, Lars started a bath. (Jeff said, "It must be a Swedish thing?!".)  They were distracted until the hotel person ran up to them to evacuate. Apparently the water was out the door and down the hall as well as to the room below. The hotel reluctantly changed their room to the top floor.  That's why he thought he might be blacklisted from Valley View Casino in the future!  

Jeff, we will miss your wit and humor but most of all, your generous spirit and kind heart. And you will be indelible in our hearts.  We love you

Dear Julie,
I am truly blessed to have met Patty (who reminds me of my mother) which subsequently led me to meeting you and Jeff, and building a friendship together. Although we didn't get to spend a lot of time together, the time we shared was always fun, and entertaining, and will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for sharing all the great photos of Jeff, you, and other family members and friends. They really help show the passion and love he had for life, travel, adventure, food, family, friends and especially YOU. Jeff was a remarkable person who will be missed by all. May he rest in peace and may you, and the rest of the family, hold those precious memories you have of him close, and at the same time, may God wrap his arms around you and give you the strength to live and love life once again, as Jeff would have wanted you to.

We had been married for 18 years, going on 19 years this year. Eighteen years journey had created too much precious memories and I wish that we could continue for at least another 20 years... Can't accept this fact. This whole thing seems like a dream and I wish that once the dream is over, you would come back to my life again... Just want to hear you call me Honey Bun and hug me one more time I know that won't happen but I still hope for a miracle to occur... With your passing away, I felt an entire emptiness in my heart and my whole body. Great memories of Jeff.                           January 11th 2017 my sister told me that Jeff passed away. When I heard that heart-broken news, my heart sunk. I couldn't believe my ears and wish that was not true... I went to Jeff's memorial website and saw his pictures and all the great memories of him suddenly came to me.                                              First time I met Jeff was in San Diego, I still remember his warm smile and he showed me how to play all kinds of games, I can really feel his kindness and that he was as happy and playful as a big child. Jeff was a great and serious photographer. When I first went to visit him and my sister, he just started learning how to take photos, he took a lots of great pictures of me. I treasured that Jeff was part of my family 's members and I am proud of him that he had accomplished so much on both of career and his photophy.  Two years ago, my son went to the US to study in high school, Jeff and my sister took care of my son like their own. They helped my son in many ways. Jeff tried his best to get my son well prepared for getting to a good college and help my son to make his film director dream come true. Jeff, you know I truly appreciate all you had done for me and my son. I will remember you forever, all of us will take good care of your mom like our own mom. Now, you can rest in peace in heaven. I am sorry to hear about your loss. Jeff was a great guy and loved his family very much. I worked with him at Qualcomm. He talked about his family when he spent late nights at work. It was fun working with him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

The first time I met Jeff, I knew Jeff was the Mr. right to Julie.  In these years, through Julie, I learned Jeff was a good husban and a wonderful son.  My condolences are with you Julie, Jeff's mom and family.

We met Jeff through my dear friend Julie, a fellow Buckeye,  more than a decade ago in San Diego. It was always super enjoyable, stimulating and memorable times hanging out with Jeff and Julie - they are the warmest, most talented, genuine, generous, dynamic and most importantly fun couple around.  Jeff and Julie are both successful professionals always full of meaningful stories and tips to a good life to share in useful details as well as new exciting adventures to inspire us. Immediately come to our minds are Jeff's passionate love to Julie that melts any heart and Jeff's mastery of motorcycles, card games, photography and more.  Jeff always lights up the room with laughter whenever Jeff is around - a truly gifted talent. The thoughts of Jeff and Julie always bring us smiles wherever and whenever we are - definitely came in handy as we moved around and still kept in touch over the years.  We are shocked and extremely saddened about Jeff's sudden departure. As a society, we need to understand and prevent such dangerous sudden heart attacks. We will always remember the joyous moments together. Jeff will always be in our hearts and we will make sure Julie will be surrounded with friends and family as well as lots of happiness and fulfillment that she deserves. Jeff, I knew you almost 30 years ago.  We had so much fun time and memorable moment together when we were you and naive.  I am so so sad you left us now. Dear Jeff's family, I was so sad to hear the news. I worked with Jeff in both Nokia and Qualcomm, my office was next door to Jeff's for 2 years in Qualcomm. He was very kind and warm. Jeff has a great sense of humor. I really enjoyed working with him and talking to him. He is a great person. I'll greatly miss him.

I worked with Jeff very closely the last seven years or so at Qualcomm. Jeff was a hard working engineer who had made significant contributions to numerous projects at Qualcomm. As a person, he was genuinely nice guy with a great sense of humour. Always had interesting anecdotes to share. He loved photography (his photos were amazing). He loved biking. He loved his family dearly. I will truly miss his presence. Where ever he is, may he rest in peace.

We are very sad to hear Jeff's left.  Although we just  met one time, he brought us love and laughter. Although he is in another world now, he is our family forever. we all miss him terribly.

Jeff was unforgettablea character of multiple dimensions.  He was a nice, fun-loving guy that was passionate about what he believed inand caring.  He was my husband's best friendthey spoke so often although thousands of miles apart. I remember a couple of weeks ago hearing my husband laugh harder than I had heard in years, listening to their escapades in the past.  I smiled to myself as I heard themit was a joyful moment.

  I can still see his grin and hear his laugh .he believed in quality of life, and not to let work get in the way.  On the other side, he was dedicated to his responsibilitieshis job, his wife, his mother.and took care of them well.  No matter how difficult and stressful life was, he found humor and fun and creativity through his photography, his computers, and his dreams of a better lifeof creating his own business and being independentfree.  Now, he is free of what holds us here, free of the stress, and although it may sadden us that he has left, he is free.

When he passed, as when we pass, he will be remembered not by his job, but by his dedication to his family, his wife, his mom, his pets, his co-workers, his friendshis humour when people had difficulties, and his sense of justicejust being nice.he was a nice guy.  And that counts a lot.both in the people he touched, and up above.may you rest in peace, and we will do what we can to keep your sweet Julie happy and repay some, if not all, of your kindness.

I only knew Jeff for a short time through my friend, Julie.  We all sang karaoke together. Jeff and Julie always made us feel welcome in their home.  Julie, my heart goes out to you and your family.

Jeff: I have been feeling so sad to hear about your sudden departure. You Linkedin me a few days before the holiday for happy hour but I was too busy to reply. Who would know that I would never get a chance to have happy hour  with you any more?  I was kicking myself after I heard about your news. Since you joined Qualcomm in 2007, I was very fortunate to work with you very closely on various projects.   I really got to know you and Julie since our Lenovo project.  You are such a dedicated and talented engineer.  I felt sorry that I asked you to stay in China for such a long time to support Lenovo.  However, in the same time due to that trip I got to know your beautiful wife, Julie.  You two make such a joyful couple. Jeff was my uncle, mentor, and friend. He has been caring for me after I came to US and offering me advice for film making using his own experience and never cease to stop influencing me and retaining a place in my heart even after he passed away. Passionate about photography, Jeff spent much of his time learning the principles and putting them into practice by taking pictures of people including me and my family. He even gave one of his cameras to me after learning my dream of becoming a film maker. I definitely couldn't have come to this far in high school without his love and support. Here, I would say, figuratively, just like many other departed, such as Micheal Jackson or Steve Jobs, Jeff passed away because God needs talented people like him, he needs a photographer to take pictures of the beauty and painlessness of the heaven. Therefore, I believe that Jeff has already accomplished his dream in the after world and bothers by none of the obstacles and sufferings from the reality. Please have my condolences.

Very sad to hear Jeff has left us in a such sudden way, I have known Jeff since we were engineering students. In professional level, he was always talented and determined on everything he set his mind on, from school lab experiments, company engineering assignments, to the latest photography passion.  In personal level, he was always funny, openminded and genuine to others.  Jeff,  you will be forever missed.

My condolences to Julie and O'Brien Family.

I worked with Jeff at Nokia many years ago. He was a sharp person and knowledgeable in many subjects. I remember his great sense of humor. There was never a dull moment in his presence. The greatest time I had with Jeff was when I took him flying in a Cessna 172.  He will always be in my memories.

I got to know Jeff through my dear friend Julie. The more I know him, the more I like him. He is fun,uplifting,  intelligent, kind and caring! He is full of life.  Whatever he does, whether it Poker or photography, he puts his whole heart into it, and he masters the skills quickly. I am even more touched how much he cares about other people, wholeheartedly. I have heard many stories from Julie about his coaching and helping with her nephew Sebastian to study and establish in U.S. At a gathering together at my home, I witnessed how he really cared about Sebastian and was so impressed by the way he communicated with Sebastian. It was persuasive but with love, care and respect. I was wondering how many fathers can communicate so well with their own sons...

His sudden leaving is a huge loss for me and our friends. 

Jeff, we will certainly miss you and your spirit will be with us forever.

Although we had met Jeff a few times, we were deeply impressed by his kindness and his willingness to help other people. The warm hearted Jeff will be greatly missed.

Jeff, I still could not accept the fact that you really left. Miss those happy and funny moments we were together. Those photoes you took are the best I have ever had till now. Jeff & I worked together for years. He was a spirited personality. Always cheerful and friendly. Got to know of his amazing photography skills on our Korea Trip in Jan 2015. We hung out together almost 24/7 during this time. Never in the wildest dream would it occur to me that he would leave us so soon. We know you are out there watching over us. We miss you terribly Jeff !

I had the opportunity of working with Jeff on one of the most challenging Qualcomm chip. That was the time when most days I would start as well as end the day with a call to him. His energy, optimism and sincerity were a guiding light in that challenging period. I will remember him as a wonderful co-worker, excellent partner, and above all a great person.

Jeff and I worked closely for years. He was a mentor and helped me tremendously. We was a close friend, I will remember him often.

Jeff shared with my family his wonderful spirit of caring, strength, trust and friendship.  He will be greatly missed at work and on the road.  Thank you Jeff for being with us.

Jeff has been one of my best friends in life.  We share a lot of good memories  from Chicago to California.  He was this cool dude with a pony tail in his 1980s Malibu who threw explosion strikes at bowling alleys.  We also survived some silly adventures - biking through some shady neighborhood, surfing, ... Yet, he's the kindest and helpful friend one can ever ask for. He's good at pretty much anything he touched - engines, circuits, poker, photography ... - and shared lots of joy with his friends.  I am glad Jeff and I share this 20+ years of friendship, and will surely be missing him.

We are so sorry to loss you! When We heard, my son and myself hearts are broken. We are very sad. We just spent several days with Julie and you at your lovely house. Even though we just met , we felt your warm and kind heart,  caring , your responsibility. .... I am so happy  Julie got marriage ou! You drove ,showed us San Diego the most attractive places, your work area , your favorite restaurants and food , participated in new year eve party , let us feel the truly American cultures,   you helped Yixuan to check his new car package etc......you are too kind.......We learned a lot from you.  I still remembered the morning of Jan 2 in front of your garage , before we head to the airport , you told us you are going to lose weight and we will see a different you next time..... 
Your photography and photoes are so impressive, we know you have a long to do lists. The day before you left, we had talked photo gallery via wechat.
Today You are away us physically, you are in our heart forever forver.  We miss you very very much!

I was very sad to hear this.  Jeff was a huge help to me at Nokia when I first started.  He was smart, fun, kind, helpful.  Even though I haven't seen him in many years, I will miss him and I am sad I won't have the opportunity to work with him again.

One thing I will say is that "WE" should be happy and allow our God to take his son into his care where he will forever be at peace. When you become sad just remember this; the love and laughter he shared with all of you will live in you forever. My sincerest condolences to you and your families.
