Jenny passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, at the age of 78. A much-beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Jenny leaves us with so many treasured memories. Having shared over 50 adventurous years with her husband, Les, their journey together took them from England to Germany to Canada, and across the United States, eventually alternating between Cheltenham, England, and La Jolla, California.
Jenny lit up every room she entered. She loved to dance, and she had the unparalleled ability to whip up a multi-course meal and entertain a house full of guests at a moment's notice. She was also incredibly bright, an avid reader, and a fan of cryptic crosswords. Jenny was excellent with words, possessing a dry wit that brought the house down. Indeed, she was cracking up the doctors and nurses until her very last day on earth.
Her career as a primary school teacher was defined by her energy, sense of fun, and adept management of the classroom, leaving a lasting impact on countless children and families. She was also an amazing hotelier who charmed the guests, many of whom returned to stay at the hotel just to spend time with her. And although she detested skiing, she did it anyway for her family and for the joy of the "apres ski." Jenny was one-of-a-kind and was unforgettable to all who met her-- the sheer number of "Jenny stories" speaks to how uniquely special she truly was.
Jenny is survived by her beloved husband, Les, her daughter Billie (Mike), grandchildren Joel and Madeleine, sister Ro (John), and brother Jeremy "James" (Lainie). She joins her sister Sally, who predeceased her. The world is undeniably less vibrant without Jenny's special presence, and she leaves a gaping hole in the lives of all who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.
