Her loss was completely unexpected and the family is shocked and deeply saddened. Jessica is survived by her parents, Jesse and Carmelita Braff, sister Mechele (Braff) Minyard and brother Israel Braff. Her niece Jessa Marie (Minyard) Randall and nephew Jacob Minyard meant more to her than words can describe. Jessica was often heard referring to them as "her kids" because in her heart, they were.
Anyone who knew Jessica can attest to the fact that she was kind, warm, funny and had a very generous soul. She meant so much to so many, wore many hats and answered to different names. It is a testament to how big her personality was. She was known as Aileen by her parents and extended family, Lynn by her sister (who gave her the nickname) and high school friends, Jessica/Jessi/Jes by those she met after high school, Buckwheat by her niece, Te by her nephew and friend by many.
Jessica loved to travel, try new foods and the theatre. She had an immense passion for dogs and volunteered selflessly for The Rescued Dog. Contributions can be made to them or to the San Diego Food Bank in lieu of flowers in Jessica's name. There will be a Celebration of Life, date to be determined, in the future. It won't live up to Jessica's standards, because she was THE party planner, but we will do our best to honor her and show her our love.
