I remembered when we first moved in paniqui wayback 1999, you took care of us all the time, you prepare our food and everything and i also remember your mini tindahan for the day care 
center, ako ang umuubos ng paninda mo na walang bayad!

and then i found out you were all moving to the US, Alam mo na nalungkot ako, kasi ikaw ang taga pag tanggol ko pag napapa galitan ako.

Isa ka sa tumayong nanay ko sa paniqui, nag alaga at nag tiis sa kakulitan ko.

I will truly miss you aunty utay, wala man akong mai share na pictures natin together our memories will always be remembered.

It’s been a week and I begin to wonder how much tears my eyes can produce. Is this normal? I wonder when my siblings will stop crying. I wonder when Pa can go through the day without having swollen eyes.  It’s very difficult to do anything. I sit and wonder about the task at hand knowing that it must be done for you and then I wonder why. Why is it so painful to make a ribbon? Why is it so painful to lit a candle? Why is it so painful to look at the your sandals?  I wonder about everything it seems like nothing is real anymore. I visit your bedroom to talk to you expecting a response. Joyce and I raise our voices in the living room expecting you to come out telling us to be quiet and go to sleep. It’s very hard but slowly we we will try our best to get through this. We looked through old photos and listened to you and Papa’s hit songs. Along with some tears, that brought in some laughs. Tomorrow marks the last day of prayers and Justin along with your siblings and other relatives has been very supportive. The long hours we spend with them catching up and reminiscing old memories has helped a lot. 

I remember the days when you would call your siblings. Very excited and very loud. Now I know why. They bring so much joy and the simple lifestyle they have is so precious. I don’t remember much but I remember enough to know what it feels like to live a simple life back home.  No matter the number of conflicts, Family is family. We stick together as a unit. They define the true definition of that.

I look back on our childhood and all of the silly things we would do together. We grew up unitedly and our lives began to part into two different worlds, there was still always an understanding between the two of us.
You know how it is when you lose someone, the stage of regret and the feeling that you could have done something more never really goes away. Regarding how you died, there wasn’t much more that any of us could have done, but the thought is always there. What if you could have  gone back to Paniqui these recent years and we could celebrate with the family siblings who are still alive?  Is it because of the pandemic?   A lot has to be adjusted. Always asking what if, what if, what if?
I just want you to know sis,  that I regret of not having any communication till your last days. Recently, I only see you through the messenger but you can no longer talk.  Just your sweet smile may do something for us here in the Philippines, no matter what.
It was never part of our plans, but I’m glad still that we have our close contacts with your family, happy than ever.  A lot of people may  say goodbye to you at your funeral, and we sent you off with love.
I will miss you every single day, and I wish you were still here. But you will always be my big sister. I love you with all of my heart and I will see you again someday  when my time comes.

It’s never easy finding the right words to convey a message to you as a loving mother who just passed away but strived hard to let your loved ones feel how much you have loved them. Indeed, the love of your family is stronger than death though no one can stop it from happening.

Your life is truly a blessing to your loved ones and to others. I remember when my Papa was reassigned in Tarlac and your family had treated him well for being far away from his immediate family. After three decades, I have visited your place in San Diego and dined out with your loved ones. I was equally welcomed and treated well. My father and I truly appreciate the care and kindness that you have extended to us - Thank You.

Mama, we miss and love you.  I was first blessed with your warm smile almost 20 years ago on Knight Drive.  I was not ashamed to practice my tagalog because I knew I was talking to my future mom and had someone I could talk to. I miss will our chismiss and will see you in heaven.

To Mama Fernandez…
I can’t begin to express the heartache I feel for the loss of such a wonderful woman. It is such a gaping hole left in our hearts, and no one will ever be able to take that place. My heart goes out to the Fernandez family during this painful time. I witnessed Papa Fernandez and her 4 loving children tirelessly caring for her in her final months in the hospital. She will know FOREVER how much you love her and sacrificed for her, just as she did for everyone in her family. May God bless the  family and give them peace. Comfort them and always know that “Mama” is safe in God’s arms now. Sarah and Owen send their love to the family as well. Rest in perfect peace, Mama Fernandez. We will honor you the rest of our lives for being such an amazing wife, mother, and true friend to so many. Until we meet again in Heaven…
