I have a baseball that I hit a home run off of John nearly 50 years ago...  Now, I think of an incredibly strong boy with a gentle heart and a mean fastball that I closed my eyes and hit over the fence into the frat houses @ SDSU all those years ago...

I also remember his parents who were so kind to me when my mother died way to young...

And of course I remember the day when I realized I had a crush on his beautiful sister Kathy with a smile I will never forget...

The Kendrick house was a place you could show up at when you were 11 years old, just lost your mother, and just be present...

I haven’t seen John in nearly a half century, but, I feel the warmth of his heart, his smirky smile and a mean fastball that I hit out of the park with my eyes closed because I was afraid of the speed it might hit me...

Sweet dreams my little league brother.
