John Pecoraro

El Cajon, CA – On the 31st of July, John Pecoraro our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Born in Aspra, Sicily, John came to the United States in 1947. He married the love of his life, Helen in 1948 and settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They moved to San Diego in 1958 with their three children (Frank, Marie, and George). They celebrated 64 years of marriage until Helen passed away in 2012. John was an active member in San Diego’s Italian-American community and co-owner of Fiori’s Pizza Deli-Grocery in Mission Hills, until it sold in 1995. An avid gardener, John grew a variety of fruits and vegetables and enjoyed sharing his bounty with everyone. He enjoyed cooking and you could always find John playing bocce ball in Little Italy every Monday and Friday. He is survived by his daughter, Marie, son, George (Diane), grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (viewing 5-7pm) Saturday, August 8th at Merkley-Mitchell Mortuary at 3655 5th Ave, San Diego 92103. Services will be held Monday, August 10th at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church on State & Date Streets in Little Italy, followed by Holy Cross interment. Afterwards, a celebration gathering will take place at Our Lady of the Rosary Church Hall (upstairs). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Our Lady of the Rosary Church or Grossmont Sharp Hospital.
