Joseph Frank Anfuso died on October 13, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in San Diego May 26, 1939, to Carmelo and Vera. Joe grew up in the "Little Italy" section of San Diego, and spent over 40 years as a Chief in the Tuna Fishing Industry. Preceded in death by his father and mother. Survived by his loving wife of over 51 years, Shirley, children Joseph (Jennifer), Veralyn (Joe Carini) and Cara, grandchildren Joseph (Cristina), Louis, Joette and Gianni, great-grandchildren Arianna and Giuliana, siblings Fina Burzotta (Enzo), Rosa Anfuso, Stella Barranco, and Edward (Stacey). His big smile and bigger heart made him a dear husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend, mentor and enduring patriarch of the family. The Anfuso famiIy will forever be grateful to Dr. Jennifer Fisher for her knowledge, kindness and concern throughout this process. A special thank you to San Diego Hospice, for helping to make Joe's final days more comfortable.We will love you and miss you and keep you alive in our hearts forever; your love, advice, wisdom, laugh, and smile will never be forgotten.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., at Saint Agnes Church, on Friday, October 19, 2012, with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
