He was born on April 17, 1941 in Jamestown, New York the son of the late Joseph Sanfilippo Sr. and Eva Margaret Benenati. When he was in elementary school, his family moved to Burbank, California. After attending Burbank High School, Joe served in the army and was stationed in Korea from 1959-1962. He graduated from California State University Northridge as an Electrical Engineer. He loved to fix things and was known for his dry sense of humor. He worked at Lockheed Martin in the early 1970's and at defense contractor Librascope until 1995. Joe was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife Kathryn Schmidt Sanfilippo (Nov 3, 1946 - March 11, 2006).
He is survived by son Joe of San Jose; daughter Christie Neil of San Diego; grandchildren, Jenna and Jack Sanfilippo, and Jimmy and Ashley Neil.
