Ms. Josephine Pang, 54, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018 after suffering a brain hemorrhage suddenly on Sunday evening. To know Jo was to be her friend; her unique, magnetic personality absolutely required it to be so.
She was born on December 29, 1963 in Taipei, Taiwan. 1963 was a busy year for Jo as she also met her future husband, Sean, this year as their families were friends. She attended Ming Chuan University and in 1985 earned a degree in international business. After college, Josephine worked in international trade at JCPenney, Woolworths and local Taiwanese companies. She even earned a National Award for Xiangsheng, a traditional Chinese comedic performing art and one of China's most popular cultural elements.
In 1989, Josephine’s life changed when she was reacquainted with Sean, who had moved to the United States to attend school. They fell in love and were married in 1991. After they were married, Jo moved to the United States to be with Sean and eventually became a citizen in 1996. Jo tried her hand a few careers including real estate before joining Qualcomm.
She started her career at Qualcomm in 1996 managing the work visa program in the HR department. In 2005, she decided to make a career change and joined the Global Security Department as a Security Specialist. Jo embraced her new role and excelled to a point where she was designing whole security systems and managing Global Security’s international operations.
Jo loved to travel. Jo also loved whisky. Jo especially loved travel which also involved whisky, which is why she fell in love with Scotland. Jo and Sean traveled to Scotland numerous time over the years and even considered retiring there. When not traveling the globe, Jo and Sean enjoyed dancing tango. Tango was not just a hobby for them, they traveled to Argentina to watch tango and even excelled to a point that they began teaching tango. Many lifelong friendships were made while dancing tango.
Jo is survived by her husband Sean Yang, her “adoptive parents” Bjorn and Jo, and furry companions Smokey and Peaty.
No calling hours will be observed.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on August 4th at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego followed by a lunch at Holy Gao Restaurant nearby.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to the Wild Animal Sanctuary (www.wildanimalsanctuary.org) in honor of Josephine Pang.
