

Born on March 20, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, Josephine lived a long and faithful life, residing in El Cajon, California. A devoted Catholic, she was a founding member of Our Lady of Grace (OLG) in El Cajon, where her faith and commitment to her church community were evident throughout her life.
Josephine was a dedicated businesswoman and proud owner of Parkway Beauty Salon, which she operated successfully for over 40 years. Through her work, she built lasting relationships and became a cherished presence in her community.
She is survived by her grandchildren Stephen (Tonya) Russo II, Matthew (Chas) Russo, Kayla (Mike) Elmer, and Kory (Sloane) Russo; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Pungi and Mary Codispoti; her siblings, Nicholas Pungi, Phillip Pungi, and Virginia Pungi; her husband Thomas Russo; and her children, Stephen Russo and Thomas Russo Jr. Her daughter, Marion Russo, also passed away shortly after her on April 23, 2026.
In keeping with her wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A Mass in her honor will be held at Our Lady of Grace in El Cajon on May 17th at 11:00am. Friends and family are invited to attend and remember her life. A private celebration of life will be held by her family.
"Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her." She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
