Kanhkong Souryamath, age 62, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 25, 2026, surrounded by family after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. His deep Christian faith defined his life.
Born in Savannakhet, Laos, to Chanh and Khong Souriyamath, Kanhkong came to San Diego for a better life. There, he met his beloved wife, Chinda, and built a family rooted in Christ's love. He was a devoted father to Jason and Shounna, who were his greatest joy.
A humble man of God, Kanhkong loved sports, fishing, cycling, and playing the drums in his youth. Later, he enjoyed gym workouts, driving, playing the keyboard, scrolling on his phone, cheering for the Chargers, Padres, and NASCAR, and filling his home with traditional Lao music.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife; his children; his brother, Don Souriyamath; his sisters, Vongmay Souriyamath and Kongmay Souriyamath; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Keo, Khone, and Tong Souriyamath.
The faith he lived, the love he gave, and the music that filled his home will continue to echo in our hearts.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
