Karen Hrstka Bisogno

Karen Hrstka Bisogno Logan passed peacefully the morning of October 13, 2018, with her loving daughter and husband by her side.

She was born in Springfield, Missouri on April 29, 1960, though she spent her childhood in Lawson, around 3 hours north, near Kansas City.

Karen was a proud midwestern daughter, growing up on her family’s farm and was devoted to their loving and very close community. She was a cheerleader, a on the swim & dive team, and so much more. She was the go-to friend. Her love for those she grew up with only magnified as she moved through each phase of her life, because more than anything, she was proud of her roots. She loved where she came from.

She enlisted in the Navy as a corpsman in the summer of 1982, and discharged honorably in the summer of 1988. She returned to nursing school and graduated in 1994 from the USF School of Nursing. She earned a commission in the Navy and spent time in multiple duty stations including Pensacola Naval Hospital, Balboa Naval Hospital, and Sigonella Naval Air Station, in Sicily, before finally spending her final active duty days at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, where she retired in 2006. She retired as a LCDR Navy Nurse Corps, though she loved to say she was finally a “mustang”, an honored and affectionate term for the details of her service. Her studies, training, and certifications are endless, and nothing short of honorable and inspiring.

She loved animals, all things sports, and was a woman fiercely strong in her faith. Spending her last years in San Diego, she is survived by her devoted Daughter, Carly Bisogno, and her loving Husband, Alan “Max” Logan. She is nestled deep in the hearts and memories of her fleet of friends whom she loved as her own.

Services will be held at St. James by-the-sea at 1100 hours, with a celebration of her vibrant life to follow.
