Katherine Gallagher Goese

Katherine “Katie” Gallagher Goese, 65, of La Jolla California, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in La Jolla on Friday November 1, 2024 due to tachycardia after over a decade of coping with arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC).

Katie is survived by her husband Dan, her son Mickey (Rue), her daughter Maddie Sayabalian (Eyad), her daughter Callie, her granddaughters Cassia and Sienna, her siblings Bob (Jane), Cissy (Bill), Annie (Dick), and a loving throng of in-laws, cousins, nieces & nephews in the Goese and Gallagher families. Katie was predeceased by her father Robert, her mother Isabel, and her sister Lauren.

Katie attended grade school at St. John of Arc in Evanston, Illinois and Saints Faith, Hope and Charity in Winnetka, Illinois. She attended high school at Woodlands Academy in Lake Forest, Illinois where she played tennis and basketball and was involved in many clubs. Katie received her BA from Boston College where she majored in studio art.

Katie was a talented artist, whose work has been shown in numerous galleries. She was an avid reader, and a “classics” movie buff. She was fun-loving, had a great sense of humor and was a loyal friend to many. Katie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends continue to celebrate the brilliance and joy of Katie’s life in many ways, with memorial services in Evanston, Illinois and San Diego, California. In lieu of flowers, her loved ones ask that donations honoring her be made to Johns Hopkins Medicine where treatments and cures to ARVC/ARVD are under development.
