Kathryn Alice Valentino
December 18, 1925 – April 22, 2020
Kathie was born in Northampton, Pennsylvania, and was raised by her parents (Arthur and Helen Wolf) along with her two brothers, Charles and Arthur, and their cherished Maine Coon cat Cushing. After graduating from Northampton High School, she moved to Manhattan to become a reservations agent for Trans World Airlines. It was there that she met her future husband Julius “Val” Valentino. After marrying Val, they had two children, Karen and David, and raised them in Allentown, Pennsylvania and then Valley Stream, New York. Val’s job with TWA ultimately brought the family to Overland Park, Kansas and then on to San Francisco, California. When Val retired, they relocated to San Diego, California. Kathie always enjoyed gardening, and maintained a beautiful flower garden and pristine landscaping at her residence. In her younger years she traveled extensively to numerous international destinations, however in retirement, she was perfectly content to putter around her garden and chat with friends. She lived a peaceful life and was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. She was much loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed. Kathie is survived by her children, Karen Valentino of San Diego, and David Valentino and his wife Kathy of Hollywood, California. Donations can be made in her name to the Zoological Society of San Diego, one of her favorite places.
