Kent was born at his grandparent’s dairy farm in Vancouver Washington. His father, John, as US Navy musician, was stationed in Pensacola Florida where Kent lived until 1940 with his mother, Helen who was from Indiana.
His family moved in 1940 to San Diego and lived in Navy housing at the Destroyer Base. Two years later the moved to Pacific Beach where their family home sits today.
In 1956 Kent joined the telephone company where he retired after 31 ½ years.
In 1957 he met Eldene Whiting and they married in 1958. They had three children, Kyle, Jerene, and Robert.
He was involved in the Boy Scouts and his local community.
Kent started a second career lasting 9 years in Real Estate with Coldwell Bankers.
Kent joined the Masons in 1996. He was Master of S.W. Hacket Lodge #574 on December 9th 2002.
He is survived by his wife Eldene (De), Children; Kyle, Jerene & Robert, 6 grandchildren; Krystal, Robert, Mark, Jesse, Johnny, Michael & 4 great grandchildren; Abby, Robert Jr, James & Ryan.
