Lawrence Burks

He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, and while attending played baseball for the school team. After graduation he went to Mesa College for 3 years.

He was the first black man to receive a certificate for bricklaying in San Diego and worked in this field for 43 years.

Lawrence became a member of the Church of Christ on July 31, 2000 where he met and married his wife, Patsy McCroskey, on July 13, 2007. They enjoyed 16 years of marriage together.

Lawrence was very outgoing and loved his family and friends. He always had the ability to make anyone smile.

On May 12, 2024, Lawrence Burks, aged 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; his children, Maurice, Marcel, Lamance, Nicole and Nicholas; one surviving sister Bonnie Jones and one surviving brother Melvin Burks; and his multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is mourned by his relatives, many friends and brethren.
