

Larry was born in San Diego on August 29, 1939, to Jack and Margaret Ferguson. He passed away peacefully at home January 30, 2022. He was the older brother of sisters Barbara and Daryl. When growing up the family would camp at Oceanside or Cardiff during summer months with extended family
He Graduated from Hoover High School in 1957. He was a gifted artist and designer. After a few short stints at various jobs, he ended up following in his fathers' footsteps and became a City of San Diego firefighter in 1966. His firefighter schedule afforded him the time to follow his many passions. He built his first house in Del Mar in 1972 where he lived for many years. He also built 2 other spec houses. He became a master tile setter, his oldest son and nephew became Tile Contractors.
Long before it was popular, Larry was a fitness fanatic. He jogged almost every day and he would ride a bike from his La Mesa home to his fire station in downtown San Diego. On his way home he would stop by his parent's. He was a doting son who looked after his parents and called them every day.
Larry was an avid car guy. He rebuilt several hot rods and cars, one of his passions. He still has his original 1933 Ford coup that he rebuilt then took it apart to rebuild again. Anyone who knew Larry knew he was quite the antique collector. He loved listening to S0's and 60's rock, and the blues.
He had season tickets for the Chargers. Often, he would take one of his children or his nephew Mark to the games. He also enjoyed watching the Padres.
Larry had four children, Kathy, Karl, Brian and Kyle. He would do anything for his children. He loved coaching his kid's sports teams and waterskiing. He was a very loving father, uncle, and grandpa. He enjoyed spending time with his children, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Larry will be greatly missed by all his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Margaret Ferguson, sisters, Barbara Bray and Daryl Hill and Grandson Jack Ferguson. He is survived by his wife, Marylin Ferguson, daughter Kathy Ferguson, sons; Karl (Danielle) Ferguson, Brian (Allison) Ferguson, and Kyle Ferguson, grandchildren; Lila, Brody, Nate, and Leo.
