Leopoldo Mercado Porcioncula, loving husband to Avelita Bautista Porcioncula. Proud father to Antonio, Paul, Gail (Crosby) and Jon Porcioncula. Dedicated grandfather to Cuba Karla and Wynton James Crosby; Amaya Jane, Antonio Jr., and Aya Jean Gonzalez Porcioncula; and Kahlua and Whisky Lopez-Porcioncula. A military veteran, Leopoldo then worked as a culinary chef for Scripps Institution of Oceanography until his retirement in January 2002. Battling congestive heart failure, he entered hospice care in August 2020. The morning of September 15th he passed away peacefully in his sleep with his wife of 57 years by his side. All the while he deeply loved and took care of his family.
