Born April 30, 1924, to Paul and Anna Majka in Chicago, Illinois, Lillian married her husband, George A. Wicker, on November 21, 1942, who preceded her in death in 1986. She was one of seven children, and the last to survive of her brothers and sisters - Sylvia Bilstein, Stanley Majka, Rose Firszt, Jospehine Zelek, Paul Majka and Matthew Majka.
Lillian grew up in Chicago, Illinois. After marrying her husband, George, and having her first son, George Jr., she moved with her family to Orange County, California in search of greater opportunity and warmer weather. They were watching the Rose Parade on TV one New Year’s Day as it snowed in Chicago, and that day decided to move to California. After becoming empty nesters, she and her husband moved to Canyon Lake, California. Soon after the death of her husband, she moved to Murrieta, California. Several years ago, just before her health began to fail, she finally moved to Solana Beach, California, where she spent her final years.
A truly devoted wife and mother, Lillian was a strong woman, extremely active and easily made friends wherever she lived. Lillian enjoyed being with people and was always kind and happy. Wherever she lived, people often joked that she could be mayor of the town. While raising both of her sons, George and Mark, she was a regular volunteer at their schools, their Cub Scout packs, and their church. She loved RV camping, and spending time with her family and friends. After her sons graduated college, she loved traveling, meeting new people and doing new things. She moved a million miles an hour and enjoyed daily walks, until recently.
Lillian is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Marion Wicker, and Mark and Leslie Wicker, by her grandson and his wife, Michael and Danett Wicker, and her grandson and his husband, Steven Birnbach and Keith Milo.
A private memorial service for Lillian will be held at a later date when the current COVID-19 guidelines better permit such a gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
