Lily, such a beautiful and appropriate name for a woman with a voice so amazingly beautiful she sang with the big bands during a time when such feats were almost impossible for a woman of Japanese descent. After ending her singing career, she married and raised her three children with singing and music at the forefront of their family core. An ability they all learned to do well and shared together as a family.
Lily diligently worked for many, many years as the Secretary to the Superintendent of the Paramount Unified School District, where she retired from. She was an impactful woman in, to and for Paramount, California. Representing her city and community through the many organizations she belonged, such as the Paramount Women's Club, Paramount Educational Volunteers Organizations, and the Soroptimists International of Paramount where, as President she was recognized and awarded several years by Congress of the United States House of Representatives as a "Women of Distinction" for having, "demonstrated the kind of concern that creates solutions, inspires others, and makes our community a better place in which to live."
Ultimately, it was still Lily's love for singing and music that were with her until the very end of her life. For even when the Alzheimer's/Dementia had taken away her memory, her physical abilities, and left her with only incomprehensible garbled communication skills, a song, still in key, would leave her lips out of nowhere. And for that brief moment in time, she smiled, and came back into existence as she once was...her beautiful voice leading the way.
Funeral Services were held Friday, July 12, 2019, 10:30 AM, at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121, and thereafter was immediately Laid to Rest.
