Louis Edward Smith

Smith went home to be with the Lord early the morning of Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Originally from Chicago, IL, Dad was best known for his service and valor as a World War II Marine, and was a part of the very first Marine Raiders /Special Operations Command (MARSOC). He was also a second generation plumber by trade, who later worked as a plumbing system designer for UMEC until retirement. Devoted husband and loving father, he is survived by his wife, Carole, and his two children, Michael Smith and Johanna Smith Owens. Dad is preceded in death by daughter Kathleen Smith Green. He is also survived by his six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services for Mr. Smith will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Greenwood Memorial Park, Imperial Avenue, San Diego. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Louis E. Smith to American Cancer Society .
