Dearest Mom, 

Today is Chinese New Year of the Rat!  Remembering  you on this day ,how traditionally generous and loving you always were to give us lucky money first thing.  I miss your voice in telling me stories, your smile , your laugh at my silly laughter . I miss watching Anita Miu with you . I miss eating pancake at IHOP with you ,  I miss going to the winery with you,  i miss asking you who is that pop singer on radio. I miss you so ..,
I have yet to thank you for being my dearest Mom for more than 70 years of my life.  I am so blessed , but still breaks my heart to let you go.

Tsao Mama always had that smile on her face, she looked at everyone  with such kind eyes, always so pleasant! Growing up, Tsao Mama was the prettiest one in the crowd, she was a gracious and gentle lady- -end of an era for my father’s childhood friends!


We have such fond memories of our double dates with your mom and my mom at The Red House in Harvard Square for Sunday brunch . Her warmth and fun loving attitude was contagious. We will miss her dearly. Nina, you’re such an amazing daughter and good example for me. 

Nina, we are truly sorry for the passing of your mother. You have been such a devoted daughter for her, made her comfortable during the latter years which is very rare and I am sure she really appreciated that. Our condolences and well wishes during this sad time of your life.

Auntie Lucy is one of the mothers of friends that I won't forget, for sure; she was so kind. I first spent time with her in Hong Kong in '88 on my way to China, and she spent a hot, tiring May afternoon with me after taking me to lunch in Kowloon trying to buy a UPS to help me get ready to go to Chengdu. I was told to get it there because they are heavy and much more available there than in the US.  I hardly knew myself what I was getting, so you can imagine how uninteresting the 'outing' must have been for her!  But she trooped around with me nevertheless, ever the gracious one... Then afterwards enjoyed more of her with you , Nina , in Boston many times for her visits or Hong Kong .

I will always remember fondly Auntie and Uncle Tsao’s warm hospitality whenever I visited Nina at her home over the years as we were growing up in Hong Kong. I always felt welcomed and at ease. Thanks for creating all the lovely memories. Then while Auntie lived in the USA, I always have great memories of her fun loving self. Auntie was always fashionably dressed, never a hair out of place and even during the last few visits in San Diego, she was still her old self - so hospitable, cheerful and cordial. Her fantastic memory of people and events never ceases to amaze me. She will be missed! She has had a beautiful life and left a legacy of children, grand-children and great grand-children whom she and Uncle can be so proud of! All the photos attached to this Memory Book say it all!
