Luis Edward Prodigalidad, age 63, passed away on April 19, 2024 in San Diego, California after suffering a stroke. Luis was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on February 28, 1961, the third of four children born to Grace (Lemasa) and the late Ernesto Prodigalidad. After living on the East Coast, Luis moved with his family to Hawaii at the age of nine, and eventually settled in San Diego 48 years ago. He was married to the love of his life, Donna Robles, for 19 years, but they were together far longer than that. Luis will be remembered as a kind and giving person.
Luis was a huge sports lover. He had an extensive baseball card collection. His favorite spectator sport was football and he was a loyal New England Patriots fan. However, the sport closest to Luis’ heart was bowling. His maternal grandfather taught him to bowl when he was a young child and he remained an avid bowler his whole life. He was known as “Roofer” to his bowling friends after an incident where his bowling ball hit the ceiling of the bowling lane (oops!). Luis bowled three perfect 300 games in league play and participated in the national tournament for over 30 years. While not a sport, Luis also enjoyed stamp collecting.
Luis leaves behind his beloved wife, Donna Robles; his mother, Grace (Lemasa) Prodigalidad of San Diego, CA ; his siblings, Laura (Ken) Roberts of Surprise, AZ, Ernesto (Nora) Prodigalidad, Jr. of Temecula, CA, and Dana (Clay) Boyer of Alameda, CA; and a large extended family who all loved him very much and will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley & Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, California 92121. A small memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM and will be followed by a reception for family and friends from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association in Luis’ name.
