

Ma Corazon Roque Guevarra, aged 76, died peacefully on August 24, 2018 at Sharp Memorial Hospital with her husband by her side. Cora was born on June 29, 1942 in San Miguel, Bulacan, Philippines, the only daughter of Juan G. Roque and Victoria C. Dimagiba.
In 1966, Cora married Louie Guevarra in Talavera, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. After his completion of the United States Navy Recruit Training and A-School, they moved the family to Maryland, on the East Coast of the United States. From there, courtesy of the Navy, they moved between the Philippines and military postings in California. She retired in San Diego from her job as a Quality Control Inspector for Burroughs Corporation (also known as UNISYS) in 1993.
Cora was a parishioner of the Good Shepherd Church in Mira Mesa, a founding Chapter Member of the Executive San Diego Lion’s Club, a member of the Philippine-American Foundation, the Saint Joseph Association, and the Pampangan Association of Southern California.
Cora is survived by her husband, Louie, their two children; son Luis Noel R. Guevarra of San Diego, daughter Cecile Marie G. Warren of Cibolo, Texas, grandson Ryan Everett and granddaughter Summer Rachel. She also is survived by her brother Danilo de Leon and his family and her sister-in-law Lucy Roque and her family. There are also a number of other surviving relatives, close friends and her Lion’s Club family spread across the United States, Philippines and the Middle East.
There will be a memorial service at 3pm on Sunday, 2 September at the El Camino Memorial – Sorrento Valley and El Camino Memorial Park on 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego. Viewing times will be from 1pm – 5pm on both Saturday, 1 September and Sunday, 2 September.
