wife and mother of three children, passed away at age
89.
“Esing” as many would call her was born on March 25,
1931 in Malasiqui, Pangasinan Philippines to Casimiro
and Baleriana Dacasin. She had 5 siblings, Tinay, Ben,
Regina, Donnie and Gloria. She was adopted at a
young age by her father’s sister Tayang and husband
Ikong as they were not able to have children of their
own.
On May 4, 1952, she was married to Dionisio “Den” Tan.
They raised their three children, Jeffredo, Gwendolyn
and Theresa Lynn partly in the Philippines and here in
the United States.
She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Donny,
Jason, Monica, Adrienne, Dominic, Jonathan, Stephanie
and Christopher. Then she was blessed with sixteen
great grandchildren, Amelia, Maylonii, Isabella, Lucas,
Christopher Jr., Vivienne, Kae’nani, Ta’niyah, Maliah,
Julian, Jackson, Jordan, Izabelle, Sincere, Emmercyn and
Kassianii.
Esing was a very generous person and tried to help as
much as she can. She loved to be with family and loved
to go dancing at KP on Sundays. When she got a little
older, she devoted her time together with her husband
to Mama Mary and attended group prayers devoted to
Mama Mary every Saturday. There she met a lot of
people “Apos”. They were like family to her and she
loved them dearly.
She had a huge passion for cooking for the family
because it brought us together and she loved seeing us
enjoy whatever she thought of putting together which
was superb. She knew the right spices without
measuring to enhance her dishes. We will all miss her
authentic recipes.
She also had a deep love and passion for gardening
particularly for orchids. The buying, planting, repotting
was endless. She nurtured them well just as she did
with family.
She will continue to watch over us all as she always has.
We love her and will miss her dearly.
