I am just hearing this news and I am devastated.  Maria made me laugh more than any other on the volleyball court and in life.  I looked forward to her posts on social media because they always brought me more joy and laughter.  I would love to visit her grave site at some point when I am in San Diego.  So much love to her and her family 💞💞.

Maria was our neighbor when we moved to San Diego in 2021. How fun it was to realize when we moved to a new city and a new school that one of our son's new friends lived just a few doors down from us on Hewlett Street! From that moment on, the kids happily walked down the street back and forth for endless playdates for 2 years.  Even though both she and we later moved to new neighborhoods and our kids are no longer in the same school, Diego is still a beloved friend to our son.  Maria was an amazing woman. Witnessing her primarily through the lens of being a fellow mom,  I know that Diego and Fernando were the center of her universe. She just adored those boys so, so much. We loved doing Halloween with her every year and I'll never forget her epic decorations, costumes, and parties. We also have fond memories of her enormous backyard at Hewlett Street with the chickens and play equipment. It was like a farm! It was such a fun environment for my son to get to play in, and we have many happy memories of our shared time raising our kids in that neighborhood. The funeral was a beautiful tribute to her. We are heartbroken for your family's loss, and we send our thoughts and prayers to you at this very sad and difficult time.

Rest in peace sweet Angel. Will never forget your curiosity, kindness and care towards everything in life.  I know your boys will live a beautiful life through this lens.

In Loving Memory of Marie

Marie and I met in high school, and over the years, we grew closer. She introduced me to her son when he was just six years old, and from that moment, our bond only deepened.

Marie and I shared a community of strong "mamacitas," united by patience, love, and her beautiful words: "He forced me to see the world through his eyes, and it's beautiful."

We laughed together over hundreds of reels that reminded us of our lives or our kids—many reflecting her wicked sense of humor.

Thank you, Mamacita, my beautiful friend.

We met Maria in SF  when she and her family moved upstairs from us. Maria was kind, generous, funny, with a heart of gold especially when it came to animals. At that time she had Blue, Cinnamon and Bertolina. Maria’s unconditional love for all animals captured our hearts and we instantly became friends. Maria also had two beautiful children whom she loved with all her heart and soul.

In her memory, we have decided to make a donation to Rocket Dog Rescue, a local Dog Rescue here in the SF Bay Area. 

We will miss you Maria!
