On Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the age of 73, Mark Rene Culp passed away. Mark was born on August 19, 1949 in San Diego to parents Philip and Jean. He graduated from Sweetwater High School where he was a highly competitive athlete and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree and worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for about 30 years. The most important job to him was being a father; he was very dedicated to his family and put them at the center of his life. He married his first wife, Anita, in 1976 and had three sons. Mark married his second wife, Edna, in 1990 and together they raised three daughters. Mark’s hobbies included woodworking, watching football, and landscaping, but his greatest joy was encouraging his children’s skills and interests. He was strongly dedicated to his children’s education, especially in the early years, and was very intentional about teaching reading, memory skills, math, and basic financial concepts. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2000 and fought through the progression of the disease for the next 22 years, making the best of his situation. At long last, he can now rest with no more pain. He is survived by his wife, Edna, three sons Marcus, Dillon, and Graham, and three daughters Maegan, Meredith, and Madison. As a beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather, he will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and his laughter while watching America’s Funniest Home Videos, always with a bowl of popcorn.
