
Mary Suzanne Hannon Baker passed away in San Diego, California on August 9, 2016. Mary was born to Stafford and Fluvia Hannon in Pasadena, California on December 16, 1937. She graduated from Brawley Union High School and attended the University of Arizona where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She married Thomas Baker in 1956 and had 5 sons. She and Tom were longtime residents of Bay Park where they raised their family. After Tom died in 1984, she continued to live in Bay Park until her death.
Growing up in Brawley and then living in San Diego, Mary had many close friends from both areas. During her childhood she grew into an avid dog lover. Over her lifetime, she always had at least one or two dogs and each one was her favorite. Mary was dedicated to her sons and would always help with their school and sports teams. One job she always enjoyed was keeping score at their baseball games. The Padres were her favorite team and she was always there for them, win or lose. Mary will always be remembered for her wry sense of humor and wit, her big heart and the love she had for her family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Safford and Fluvia Hannon, and her husband Tom Baker. She is survived by her sons Greg Baker, Doug Baker, Tommy Baker, Richard Baker and Steven Baker all of San Diego. She is also survived by her grandson, Jake Baker, and granddaughters, Chole Baker, Emily Caljean, and Gracie Baker; her brothers Jack and Joe Hannon from Brawley; an numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass and Memorial Gathering of Friends and Family will be held at St. Bridgid's Catholic Church, 4735 Cass Street, in Pacific Beach on Wednesday August 24, 2016. The Mass will be held at 11:00 am. For those not attending the Mass, the Memorial Gathering, including a luncheon, will start at 12:00 pm in the reception hall of the church. Interment will be in a private ceremony at the San Gabriel Mission.
