On May 31, 2011, Mary Chinchillas passed away at her home in San Diego. Daughter of Augustine Mata and Bessie Ontiveros, she was born in San Diego in 1935. She was married to James Chinchillas, Sr. for many years. He passed away from an industrial accident in 1974. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and exercised a strong sense of fashion, style, and decorating. She worked for over thirty years with San Diego City Schools. Mary was beloved by all, and will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held. She is survived by four children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
