Mary was a warm-hearted and well-liked individual, and these wonderful traits came easily to her because she was such a loving person, someone who was always making certain that those around her had whatever they needed. Mary was born at home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Vincent and Rose Crisci and was raised in San Diego, California. She had two younger brothers Joe and Morris. During her childhood she learned family values and the importance of interrelationships. As she grew up and interacted with her family she would enjoy playing all sorts of games and was sensitive to the children as she allowed them to believe they actually won.
As someone who reveled in the sheer joy of her experiences, Mary was enthusiastic about new adventures. Mary was known for being positive and encouraging to those around her. One thing Mary will certainly be remembered for her good nature and selflessness. She found it easy to show sympathy and to perform kind acts for others. These admirable qualities would become a part of Mary's personality throughout her life.
Mary graduated from Point Loma High School in 1956. She enjoyed some courses more than others, having favorite classes and teachers. Her favorite class in high school was History. There was one thing that all of Mary's friends knew and will still remember, and that is that she was a people person. She could pretty much talk to anybody about anything. This quality is one of the primary reasons that Mary was such a well-liked person throughout her life. Mary was also dependable, loyal and trustworthy. While she maintained personal standards and her own personal values, Mary was very accepting of others. When Mary made friends, she made true and lasting friendships. While growing up, some of her best friends were Florence Balistrieri and Mary Collura. Later in life, she became friends with Cindy May, Dru Elliott, Irene Evans, Laura Healy, Judy DiBenedetto and Rosalie Tarantino.
Family was priority for Mary and so enjoyed time with all of them. She was blessed with two nieces Lisa and Valerie and four nephews Vince, Joe, Tony and Chris. She was also blessed with five great-nieces Danielle, Valerie, Regan, Natalie, and Sophia, and five great-nephews Joshua, Kyle, Joey, Anthony, and Ellis. Mary also enjoyed traveling and some of her favorite vacations included Europe, Italy, California Coast Tour, Hawaii and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, tennis, walking, and cooking classes. Some of her regular hang outs were Starbucks, Hob Nob, and PF Changs.
Mary was a woman of deep faith who was always willing to serve and help others. She was a member Our Lady of the Rosary and The Immaculate Conception for 55 years. During that time, she taught CCD and volunteered regularly, serving on committees for the spaghetti dinners at Our Lady of the Rosary and the buffalo barbecue Immaculate Conception. Throughout her later years, Mary was an active member of the St. Anthony Novena.
Mary was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked as a receptionist in a law firm for 45 years and was well-liked and respected by her employers and co-workers. Mary retired in 2003 and in her retirement, she enjoyed her family and she was dedicated to the loving care of her mother.
Mary passed away on July 9, 2010 at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California. She is survived by her brother Joe (Marilyn) Crisci, Morris (Nancy) Crisci; her niece Lisa (Alex) and her nephews Vince (Michelle), Joe (Suzanne), Tony (Mary) and Chris (Melanie) and 10 Great Nieces and Nephews. Services were held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Mary was laid to rest in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
If Mary's life could be reduced to two words, they would be kindness and selflessness. Her life has had great impact on everyone who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
