Mary Lou Dibartola-Peterson

We are sad to announce Mary Lou Dibartola-Peterson, age 66, of San Diego, California entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 of complications due to Covid. Thankfully Mary was able to be with her daughter listening to her favorite band, The Rolling stones. Mary was born in San Diego CA. to Franklin and Mercedes Baker on July 26th, 1956.

Mary Lou married at the age of 16 and was blessed with three children from that marriage. Her marriage did not last, and Mary Lou raised her children as a single parent. Her children were her whole world. She worked for the San Diego Sherriff’s Department as a Fingerprint examiner and worked a second job much of the time to provide for her family.

She lived life to the fullest with an open heart and an open mind. Mary loved love and was fortunate to find love many times in her life. Mary Lou married a second time to Donald (Pete) Peterson but unfortunately lost him a few years later. But she never passed up the opportunity to meet new people, Mary Lou was a free spirit that lived life by the words of Janis Joplin "Get it while you can".

She lived in many places in San Diego over the years and would often refer to herself as a gypsy and was always on the go. Mary Lou also loved and enjoyed her grandchildren, even though they could not always be together her grandchildren were her heart. Mary Lou is survived by her son, Edward, daughter Angela, daughter Rebecca, and grandchildren Anthony, Isabelle, Eduardo, Hunter, Gage, and Charlotte.

Services will be held for Mary Lou Dibartola-Peterson on January 6th, 2023, at 12PM at El Camino Memorial Park 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA. 92121 followed by food and drinks at 9482 Terrywood Road, Santee, CA. 92071.
