Masako S. Naitoh

January 14, 1925December 3, 2012

Mrs. Masako S. Naitoh passed away peacefully on December 3rd at her home in San Diego with her daughter and son at her bedside. Born January 14, 1925 in Oakland, CA Masako was the youngest of five children. Her parents, Japanese immigrants, owned a laundry and bathhouse. During WWII Masako and her family, with the exception of her older brother Goroge who served in the US Army, were relocated and interned at the War Relocation Camp in Topaz, Utah. After the war Masako attended college at the University of Minnesota and received her undergraduate degree in Nursing. It was at the U of M where she met and subsequently married Dr. Paul Y. Naitoh. They moved to San Diego in 1969. "Masa" as her friends liked to call her was an avid gardener and reader. It was not unusual to find her intently studying the day's morning newspaper. Survivors include her daughter "El" Naitoh, her son John Naitoh, his wife Becky Zeiner and grandchildren Emily, Steven, Sarah and Rick. Services will be a private family only gathering.
