It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Meliton Lescana, a devoted father, cherished grandfather, and beloved friend. He left this world with the same warmth and love that he carried throughout his life, touching the hearts of all who knew him.
Born in a small town in Mexico, Meli embraced life with kindness and resilience. It was there that he fell in love with his future wife, Alba, and together they embarked on a journey to build a life in San Diego. Their love story blossomed into a beautiful family, blessed with four daughters—Merlizeth, Yahaira, Patricia, and Stephanie. Though they hoped for a son, it was in the arrival of grandchildren that his wish was finally fulfilled.
Meli spent years working in the food industry, where his love for cooking really took off. He loved making new recipes with different cuisines. But no matter how many flavors he explored, he enjoyed most cooking his family’s traditional recipes. Cooking those dishes brought him the most joy, especially when he could share them with loved ones.
Though his marriage to Alba came to an end after 25 years, their bond remained strong, and they continued to share friendship and mutual respect. He was deeply loved by his mother, siblings, and cousins, maintaining close relationships that spoke to his generous spirit. A pillar of strength in his family, he showed up whenever he was needed, never hesitating to offer love, guidance, and support.
The cancer diagnosis that shook his world was met with unwavering courage. He fought bravely, and through his battle, he gifted his family more time than they ever expected—time to celebrate his granddaughter's quinceañera, to welcome the birth of two grandsons and a great-granddaughter, and to create cherished memories. In his final years, he lived in Mexico, cared for by his significant other, whose love and devotion brought him joy and comfort.
Meli is survived by Alba; his four daughters; his ten grandchildren, with one more on the way; and his great-granddaughter. His legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
