

Our beloved sister, Merlinda, passed away on May 2, 2014. She was born in San Diego on April 6, 1945. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1963 then went on to attend Mesa College for two years. After working in a variety of jobs, Merlinda had a career as a worker’s compensation claims adjuster. After her retirement in the 1990’s, Merlinda who enjoyed driving, made several solo trips around the country visiting relatives. Merlinda’s hobbies included photography and all kinds of crafting, especially knitting. Merlinda loved people and always had a compliment for anyone she met. Merlinda lived with colon cancer for twenty years. She was courageous in her battle against cancer, fighting it with dignity and humor. Merlinda is predeceased by her parents, Rosalio and Pauline and is survived by sisters Ramona and Paula, brother-in-law Irvin, brothers Benito and Daniel, and sister-in-law Debbie. She was a doting aunt and her beloved nieces, Victoria and Elizabeth and nephews, Stephen and Michael will greatly miss her encouragement and love. Funeral mass will be held at St. Rita’s Church, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 with a reception to follow. Please see www.goodbodymortuary.com.
