Michael Parayno Bariring, 89 of San Diego, California passed away peacefully on September 9, 2016. Michael was born in Calasiao, Pangasinan, Philippines on May 11, 1927. Michael grew up in the Philippines and joined the United States Navy at the age of seventeen. He was later stationed in Hawaii where he met the love of his life, Crisanta. They have been happily married for 62 years this past August and had five children together.
Michael enjoyed a long career in the United States Navy as a chef and retired as a Chief Petty Officer after twenty four years of honorable service. He was awarded several medals including the American Campaign Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Michael loved to fish at Hospitality Point in Mission Bay, camping at the beach, cooking for his family and friends, and watching sports especially the Padres and the Chargers.
Michael is survived by his dear wife Crisanta, their daughters Tessie and her husband William Decker, Jeannie Bariring, Donna and her husband Matthew Bair, and their son Michael Bariring. Michael is also survived by his grandchildren, Christine and her husband Nathan Hughes, Michele and her husband Randy Delacruz, Jonathan Mauser and Michaela Mauser. Michael also has eight great-grandchildren, Danathen, Keoni, Kainoa, Malia, Kalea, Keahi, Kaleo and Kalani. He is also survived by his brother Rudy and his wife Corazon Bariring and their family and his sister Annette and her family who reside in the Philippines. Michael was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Beverly “Baby” Bariring, his parents and four siblings.
Michael’s viewing will be held at El Cajon Mortuary on September 22, 2016 from 4pm-8pm. Light food and refreshments will be served. A mass will be held in Michael’s honor at our family church, Mission San Diego de Alcala on September 23, 2016 at 10:30am, followed by a military style burial at Miramar National Cemetery at 1pm where he will be laid to rest.
