Dr. Capistran “Dusty” lived to teach and loved seeing his students learn more than anything. Dusty graduated from Rice University with his Doctorate of philosophy in 1992. Before starting his amazing career in 1990 as a professor at Lone Star College, he was a volunteer and then also a trainer in the Peace Corps from 1971 - 1974 in South Korea. Needless to say, Dusty loved to travel and experience different cultures. Dr. Capistran, the Faculty Senate President from 2006 to 2008, was listed as a noteworthy philosopher and educator by Marquis Who’s Who. Dusty’s passion for those around him was evident by how greatly he was loved and admired by all.
A memorial service for Michael will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at El Camino Memorial Chapel, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121. Following the memorial service will be a graveside at 1:00 PM at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121.
