Born on May 23, 1927, in Walton, New York to Ray Mansfield Guild and Mary Florence Gay North Guild, Mike grew up in Walton, then graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1949 and served twenty years in the U.S. Navy. His career took him all over the world (Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South America, the Caribbean, and the Barents Sea), with postings in Virginia, Connecticut, Florida, Nebraska, New York, and California. Following his retirement, Mike worked for two years at Sperry Rand in Lake Success, New York, then returned to the Navy as a Civil Servant, relocating to Del Mar, California, and spending the next thirteen and a half years at the Naval Ocean Systems Center in California.
Mike is survived by his children Kathleen (Robert) Arnold, Robert (Stacia) Guild, David (Paula) Guild, and John Guild, seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Olga Ilona Farkas Guild, his parents, his sisters Harriet (Kenneth) Osinski and Ann (George) Elwood, his nephew Michael Osinski, and his grandson Ambrose Stevens.
A Committal Service will be held at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121, US, on October 9, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
