Born March 29th, 1958 to Betty and James Long. Michael lived many adventures spanning multiple states and countries. Left with decades of fond and colorful memories are his siblings Danny and Sheri Long. When they were children, he enjoyed exploring with his sister when she wanted to go on adventures. He always made it a point to ensure it was “his idea” in order to make sure his little sister wouldn’t get in trouble.
Michael was strong willed, sarcastic and stubborn at times with the oh so classic “Irish temper”, but he also had an enormous heart and a laugh that could be heard by the whole room. He loved to read, especially with his kids and grandkids, passing along his love for books and comics. Michael had a vast knowledge on a variety of topics and continued to learn long after graduating from Saint Augustine High School in 1976. He went on to receive multiple degrees from Grossmont and San Diego Community College. Michael enjoyed being part of the House of Ireland and the Knights of Columbus.
Michael and his wife Trish met in 1976 doing Summer Stock theatre, where from the start she knew she could never take him seriously as he was wearing the brightest pink tights. They got married in San Diego on August 5th, 1978 and have had many adventures over the past 45 years. They had three children together, Jonathan, Caitlin and Kiera who share diverse memories of many events including father daughter dances, soccer tournaments and in the most recent years watching him grow in his role as Grandpa Mike to his 10 grandkids and 2 great-grandkids.
