Michele was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; and is survived by her son, Andrew, his wife, Kate, and their daughters Margot and Sabrina; her son, Brian; her son, Michael, his wife Lori, and their son, Milo; and her siblings, Suzanne and Robert.
Michele was born in San Diego on May 15, 1947, to parents Robert & Anna Gaughen. A lifelong San Diegan, she graduated from San Diego State University in 1970 with a degree in Art History. She subsequently obtained her teaching credential and pursued a career as a middle and high school art teacher. In 1980, she married Anthony Beccarelli and they remained happily married until his passing in 2012.
She loved raising her family. She especially enjoyed planning family vacations, cooking well-rounded meals, going out to the movies, spending long days at the beach, and laughing at her husband’s sense of humor. As a parent, she was an active part of the Poway school community and often took on leadership roles, such as teaching art classes, serving on the PTA in her children’s elementary school, and running the beloved snack bar at the high school swimming pool. In her later years, she devoted herself to being a loving and doting grandmother.
She enjoyed reading, skiing, water aerobics, vacations in Europe and Hawaii, Rubio’s fish tacos, crossword puzzles, and the company of her family and friends.
A Memorial Service is to be held on Thursday, November 16 at 10:00 AM, at the El Camino Memorial Park. A reception will follow at the Succetti Family residence (13070 Glen Circle Rd., Poway, CA 92064). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Michele’s life.
