Mieczyslaw "Mike" Jachimowicz passed away peacefully in San Diego surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Druskieniki, Poland and at age 10 his childhood was disrupted by the start of WW 2 . His father Stephan was taken away by Russian soldiers and was never seen again. Together and separately, Mike, His mother Klaudia , his brother Janek, and his sister Nadine moved to various places around the globe including Siberia, Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Egypt, and England eventually settling down in San Diego in 1949. In 1951 he was drafted in the Army for 2 years. In 1955 Mike married Rosintina "Mina" Ayala from Zacatecas, Mexico. Mike worked at Naval Electronics Laboratory for 10 years while getting his Civil Engineering License. He worked at the County of San Diego for 25 years as an engineer retiring in 1995. His hobbies included playing chess, walking his dog and researching his Polish family history. He was very involved with the Catholic Polish church and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Rosintina, sons Richard and Michael, daughters Claudia and Ann Margaret, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Mieczyslaw Jachimowicz, age 90, of San Diego, California passed away on Saturday February 22, 2020. Mieczyslaw was born January 1, 1930 in Poland.
A funeral mass for Mieczyslaw will be held Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Saint Therese Catholic Church, 6400 Saint Therese Way, San Diego, CA 92120. A shelter committal service will occur Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr., San Diego, CA 92122. A burial will occur at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 NOBEL DR, SAN DIEGO, California 92122-5337.
