

MILAGROS DUQUE REYES, age 90, of San Diego, CA passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025. Milagros was born to Isidro and Casimera Duque of Mapandan, Pangasinan, Philippines. Milagros was the third eldest of ten children. She was born on September 18, 1935.
She is survived by her husband Florencio Diaz Reyes and four children: Ludy and husband David MacArthur, Johnny and wife Shirley Reyes, Mary Ann and husband Darrin Santos and Robert and wife Gail Reyes; and 13 grandchildren: Savannah, Tatianna, Lucas, Taylor, Skyler, Elias, James, Jacob, Elijah, Sean, Hannah, Piper, and Adrian and one great-grandchild Dominik.
Mila graduated from Mapandan Academy in 1953. She went on to attend Luzon Colleges where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1957. She also met a young ROTC cadet and her future husband, Florencio Reyes. Mila married Flor in 1963 where she began her life as a military U.S. Navy wife. For over 24 years, Mila lived in five different navy bases and two countries raising four children while Florencio was deployed on sea duty. She was also employed by Convair, Honeywell and General Dynamics working as an integrated circuit board assembler and at one time worked on the Tomahawk missile program. She balanced work and family but was dutiful to her community. She was a devout Christian woman, raising her family in the local church or base chapel, volunteering her time as a Sunday School teacher and organizing church events. She was also an active member of her local Fil-Am, Pangasinan and Mapandan community associations.
As a Christian, Mila sought to help those in need either with her time, money or donated items. She helped local charities and was very active in the church. She was instrumental in helping her younger siblings with opportunities in sponsorship and livelihood in the United States. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to do well in school and to give back to society. Mila was also known for hosting big house parties during holidays and celebrations with so much food you could feed an army. Mila will be remembered for her kindness, hospitality and generosity. Her warm heartedness was an example for her children and grandchildren to emulate. Her presence always brought people together with joy and good company.
Mama Mila was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie, ninang, and kumadre. She is loved and cherished by all, especially by her family and friends in faith. She loved and married her husband, Flor for 62 years. She continuously reminded us to pray and trust the Lord to guide our hearts. Mama Mila always found time to tell her family, you make me happy and I will always love you.
