OBITUARY

Miriam Catherine Henderson

November 23, 1933 – January 11, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley & Memorial Park

It is with heavy hearts, full of love, that we announce the peaceful passing of Miriam Catherine Henderson (née Donlon), 92, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Escondido, California.

Miriam is survived by her loving daughters, Donna Rounseville (husband Keith), Patty Murphy, and Barbara Linett (partner La Don Jones); her daughter-in-law, Carol Henderson, wife of her beloved late son, Gary Henderson; her 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Miriam was born on November 23, 1933, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Catherine (Pello) and Walter Donlon. She moved to Rome, New York, and was married to James Raymond Henderson, now deceased, with whom she shared four children. She ultimately settled in Southern California, where she enjoyed her remaining years.

Miriam was a deeply powerful yet unobtrusive force in this world. She possessed a calm, steady strength and independence that carried her through life with poise, dignity, class, and style. She managed all of this with resolute kindness and humility.

An avid reader and lifelong learner, Miriam also enjoyed gardening, keeping up on current events, and traveling — both with her family and through the pages of her books. Above all, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Her greatest legacy was one of love. She poured sincere and endless love into her family and was fiercely loyal to those she held dear. Exceptionally generous and a phenomenal listener, she responded to others with empathy, presence, and a tender heart.

She was also preceded in death by her devoted stepfather, John Dooris.

Miriam has left a deep and lasting impression on those who were lucky enough to know her. She will be sorely missed and forever remembered.
