Neil James Myers passed away peacefully at home after a valiant fight against cancer. He passed on April 21, 2022 in the arms of the person who loved him with all his heart. Neil was born on January 15, 1950 in Hudson, Michigan to Oakley W. Myers and Marian Measures Myers. He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his husband of 25 years, Michael Adoue, and his four brothers, Wayne (Faith) of Fort Myers Florida, Warren (Becky) of Mt Horeb, Wisconsin, Norm (Ruth) of Shelby Michigan, and Mark (Crystal Starr) of Hanover, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews.
He grew up on a farm near Waldron, Michigan and graduated from Waldron area High School in 1968. He attended the University of Arizona in Tucson receiving bachelors and master’s degrees. He received a second master’s degree at the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado. He practiced successfully in the remediation field in Denver and then he worked as an IT Project Manager in San Diego for 17 years.
He was a kind and gentle man who cared deeply about everyone in his life. He never judged anyone and always gave people the most beautiful smile when he saw them. His warmth and sweetness caused people to fall in love with his spirit as soon as they met him. He always tried to find the best in people. He loved to see his friends, but his favorite thing in the world was spending alone time with the love of his life, Mike, and their amazing pups. They were married on August 22, 2008. He loved his animals and his husband unconditionally and truly. He loved margaritas, chips, salsa and olives. Sitting with Mike in the evenings with a bottle of wine and “snackies”, as they called them, with their pup sitting with them was when Neil was the happiest. Working in his garden was his therapy. He felt content and at peace. His farm background never left him. He loved to grow vegetables, fruits and flowers of all kinds.
A celebration of life will be held at a future time. Memorials in remembrance of Neil should be made to Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah.
